The Marlborough School Open Evening
BackOn September 26th we held our Open Evening event, an opportunity for prospective pupils and their parents to visit our exceptional school as they begin looking forward to secondary education. Over 500 visitors filled the MEC (Marlborough Enterprise Centre) and enjoyed an engaging talk from Mr Hanlon (Principal), followed by a group tour of the school and our fantastic facilities, led by staff members. In the course of the evening, visitors also had an opportunity to talk with staff and current students.
During the event, four of our students - Amerley and Nicholas (Year 12) and Teddie and Ruby (Year 8) - took to the stage. Each student delivered a fantastic speech on their personal experience of being part of the 'Marlborough family'. It was a privilege to hear each of them speak and they certainly connected with the audience, they truly are outstanding ambassadors for our school.
"Now, I’m sure you want to hear what this school's all about. Your parents probably want to hear about how Amazing the teachers are—and they really are, they’re great—but the truth is, everyone will have their own favourite things about school. For me, sports is a big passion, and I love how this school offers many chances to compete in a wide variety of sports and not just football. Through the school electives I have an opportunity to become a sports leader. It's amazing to be able to inspire younger children and help them get excited about staying active and involved in sport". Teddie .C. (Year 8)
It was a wonderful evening and we were thrilled to see so many prospective pupils and parents attend, especially following the torrential rain we experienced at the beginning of the week!
