Silver DofE Practice Expedition
Back
On Thursday, 1st of October, the weather conditions were perfect for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as 45 Year 10 students made their way to Bibury. Most had already completed their Bronze Awards and mastered the art of minimalist packing: their rucksacks were efficiently packed, they were already munching on Haribo, and they were ready to go!
Their navigational skills were put to the test, but all groups navigated successfully to the first campsite and set up camp. After dinner, Miss Finerty organized a game of Traitors for everyone. Day 2 quickly arrived and off they set, knowing they had just one more night under canvas to go.
On the final day, the end was in sight. Although the phrase "DofE is not a race" was frequently repeated, there was definitely a competitive edge as groups vied to reach the pickup point first! When they arrived, they were exhausted but immensely proud of their accomplishment - a feeling that was thoroughly well deserved.
Well done, Year 10- we are looking forward to your assessed expedition in April!
